Meet Sterling
Sterling Beck is an advocate for responsible government and growth.
He believes that our city needs to remember its roots and return to the proper role of government, avoiding excessive regulation and staying out of the private market. Sterling will use his experience to re-energize the local economy, revitalize downtown, and respond to needs of our neighborhoods.
Sterling understands that many Provo citizens are upset about the irresponsible use of their tax dollars. He supports fiscally conservative policies that use government funds for true city services that help our community grow. Sterling is a tireless advocate for public safety, parks, and recreation. He will encourage policies that bring local businesses to Provo and will be an ardent voice against speculative ventures that spend your tax dollars competing against private businesses.
During his 4-year term, Sterling will never support an increase in taxes unless the people call for it through their vote. He believes that the city budget can be balanced by more responsible council decisions that cut government waste.
Sterling has a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology from BYU. He has over a decade of experience as a business professional and is currently the Director of Online Marketing for a Provo technology firm.
Sterling’s wife Jamie is an education writer and former high school English teacher. They spend their free time fixing up their classic Provo bungalow and finding new downtown restaurants to try.
